Maybe conservative voters are starting to connect the dots. Ron Paul, the only Republican presidential candidate not in favor of the Iraq occupation, won a straw poll in Nevada. Expected favorite Mitt Romney had just 16 percent of the vote compared to Paul’s 33 percent. It could be that Republican voters in Nevada are concerned about out-of-control spending; Ron Paul, essentially a Libertarian, plans to put an end to that. But of course most of that spending is for an occupation in Iraq that does nothing but enrich war contractors. What also resonated was Paul’s righteous shock during the recent debate on MSNBC when Romney said he would need to consult his attorneys about whether he could invade Iran without approval from Congress. Paul suggested Romney might want to consult the United States Constitution instead… Ya think?
