Turd Roves

Posted by Paul at August 31st, 2007

Before he high tailed it out of the White House, Karl Rove spoke of the resolute courage of his boss. The courage to let Cheney set the agenda and Rove take the reigns, I’m guessing. Did you notice the sadness in Bush’s eyes when he said goodbye to his long time political strategist? I think I detected a little envy as well. So long, Turd Blossom. It’s all down hill from here. No one left to spin things. Maybe Bush fears the true weight of what he and Cheney have perpetrated on the world will begin to press on him, now that Rove is no longer there as a buffer.

Nah…

Watch Your Backs

Posted by Paul at August 15th, 2007

NEWSFLASH: White women in the Midwest can take a shotgun and shoot their husbands in the back while they’re sleeping and serve only two months in prison. Warning: apparently it helps to be a meek looking preacher’s wife who claims she was abused. And no, you don’t need any evidence of that abuse.

Smoking Gun

Posted by Paul at August 14th, 2007

Take a look at this video clip of Dick Cheney in 1994, saying to overthrow Saddam Hussein would result in a quagmire unworthy of risking soldier’s lives. Gee, I hope all the injured, amputee, and brain damaged vets (nearly 30,000 so far) get a chance to see that. Oh but, silly me, 9/11 changed everything, that’s right. When those Saudi jihadists attacked us it made a deadly $2 trillion quagmire in Iraq acceptable. Makes perfect sense. OK, I feel much better now. And I’m sure all those maimed soldiers will understand. The dead ones, maybe not so much…

I Smell Toast

Posted by Paul at August 10th, 2007

From the Village Voice: Rudy Giuliani’s Five Big Lies About 9/11

Now behind Mitt Romney in the latest Iowa poll, Rudy Giuliani isn’t doing himself any favors by lying about his anti-terrorist credentials on the campaign trail. Let’s face it, his only real 9/11 accomplishments were calming people down after the fact at news conferences and walking through dusty lower Manhattan pointing at things and looking concerned for the cameras. Luckily for him, focus-grouped Ken doll Romney won’t go after Saint Rudy. And so far Giuliani isn’t known for public meltdowns like a certain other toasty former Republican front-runner. But should he manage to stay viable after the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries, he’ll undoubtedly be called on his 9/11 bullshit by someone other than dark horse Ron Paul, maybe even by Romney if he truly wants the nomination. Then the toasting can really begin.

Hal Fishman 1931-2007

Posted by Paul at August 8th, 2007

He’s been on television in L.A. as long as I can remember and somehow it seemed Hal Fishman would always be there at 10pm on channel 5, delivering the news. Not above a smile or a quip, but still the consumate serious news anchor, he had a certain gravitas and old school charm. I’d even get embarrassed for him when he got paired with some young tart at the news desk. He was already a local icon, yet his iconic status only now becomes apparent since personality or vanity never got in the way of his job as news anchor, commentator, and editor-in-chief. That’s how good he was at what he did.

Interactive Town Hall

Posted by Paul at August 4th, 2007

From the Huffington post:

Charlie Rose, armed with questions you have sent in, will have a conversation with each of the candidates. After the candidates have finished talking, the video will be coded and put at your disposal — empowering you to create the candidate mashups of your choosing. Want to see what all the candidates said about Iraq? It’s just a click away. Or maybe you just want to compare the answers of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Or perhaps health care is your primary concern and you want to see how John Edwards’ take on the issue compares to Joe Biden’s or Chris Dodd’s. The point is, you can watch what you want, when you want, and how you want. Focus on one candidate or one issue or mix and match. Then share your takes on what you see with your friends or other mashup users.

Here’s my question:

Bush/Cheney leaked phony Iraq WMD reports to the New York Times and even included some in a State of the Union speech. Although these fabrications were verified by the former head of the CIA and others, Bush/Cheney have not been held accountable. They also leaked the name of a CIA operative whose husband disagreed with their tactics, a blatantly treasonous act. It is common knowledge that the neocons Bush/Cheney shill for decided long ago that invading Iraq was a goal to establish a base for oil exploration, against the will of the American people. This seems to me to be the biggest debacle perpetrated by a White House in the history of our nation. My question to any of the candidates is this: What will you do to right these wrongs, to hold accountable Bush/Cheney for using their office to enrich oil and war contracting conglomerates at the expense of our future safety at home, the lives of soldiers and innocent civilians, billions in squandered taxpayer dollars, and our standing worldwide?
