Cash is Still King

Posted by Paul at May 17th, 2010

Oh, look: we’re giving more per month to war profiteers than under Bush. Would be nice to see an itemized ledger showing how our 6.7 billion a month is being spent. But no, let’s not talk about that. There’s other stuff which costs way less we can spend hours on cable news blathering about.

Above the Law

Abusive priests’ personnel files remain under wraps

Get a warrant and go take the files away from these child abuse advocates. If I were a school principal who sent a child raping teacher to go rape at another school, I’d not only be detained or arrested, I’d be impelled to give up what I knew about that teacher, IMMEDIATELY.

This case was settled back in 2007, when they were ordered to turn over the files. Are we really that scared of the boogey men in the collars and white robes? Force them to give up the files now, or throw their law-breaking asses in jail.

Rielle Life

Posted by Paul at March 16th, 2010

“Johnny” Edwards was a handsome billionaire presidential contender, so I get why Rielle Hunter became his mistress. I even get why she’s now talking about their relationship in the press.

But talking about Elizabeth Edwards and the Edwards’ marriage problems is just unseemly. Edwards or his wife can talk publicly about their marriage if they wish, but his mistress? Extremely presumptuous of her. How about: “I’m not going to comment on their personal lives, it’s not my place.” ? No, that won’t do; in these times we elevate lack of decorum. Better to spout off like a contestant on a reality show. If Hunter is really worried about what her daughter will think one day, maybe a catty portrayal of a woman she doesn’t know and whose life she helped ruin is not the best example to set.

Yes, John Mayer

Posted by Paul at February 14th, 2010

I’m bestowing the title of Pop Culture Douchebag of the Year on John Mayer. Once a mainstream music critic’s darling, he’ll soon realize they all now put “yes” before his name as a qualifier, as if to apologize for mentioning him.

Someone said Mayer acts as if he’s too hip to ever be caught listening to the type of music he himself plays. I think that sums him up pretty well.

Now he’s having some kind of breakdown because he used the “N” word and has to go cry about it on TV.

Or how about the time he sang and played acoustic guitar for a small group of female fans, but first he asks them: “How long do you think I’ll play before I make you cry..?” Then he plays the song and makes each of them weep, one at a time. Man, that’s epic. If I gave out Ego of the Century he’d be a lock.

Repent, Golfer

Posted by Paul at January 10th, 2010

According to Brit Hume of Fox News, Tiger Woods needs Jesus. Well alright, Jesus has a nice message. But why Tiger? Hume must be profoundly disappointed in him — “Et tu, squeaky-clean racially ambiguous golf diety?” — jettisoning his credibility as a news anchor (OK, a Fox News anchor, but still) and publicly inviting Tiger to follow Jesus. Imagine if Wolf Blitzer or Katie Couric did this. It’s hard to, because they wouldn’t. And if they did, they’d have to retire the next day and be replaced by a real news anchor. Which means, even if they manage to report some news stories, Fox News is in fact a fake news channel. This is not hyperbole or exaggeration or bias; their anchorman announced on air that Tiger Woods needs to find Jesus. I guess those who deny poor kids healthcare — before they go out and cheat on their wives — have already found Him.
